20th Century Fox
'The Sound of Music' movie was released in 1965 from Twentieth Century Fox. The movie is said to have 'saved' 20th Century Fox from bankruptcy after 'Cleopatra' (1963) had high production costs and low returns. After it's release 'The Sound of Music' ultimately grossed over $158 million in Canada and USA box offices displacing 'Gone with the Wind' as the highest movie.

Cast, Crew and Production Team
DIRECTOR- Robert Wise after he originally turned it down. William Wyler began pre-production but his heart wasn't in it and he was approached with a script for another movie with which he was impressed. After Wyler left Robert Wise decided to take it on.
